Mozilla Axes its ‘Deepfake’ AI Detector Add-On

Mozilla is axing another add-on that few people used but which felt a perfect fit for a company whose founding mission statement was to make the web better. Next week, on June 26 2025, the Fakespot Deep Fake Detector extension, which let users vet content to find out if it was made by a human, or generated for a human (a statistically-glued collage of plagiarised and paraphrased words from an LLM), will stop working.
